HomeySpec exists to give readers honest, useful guidance on home and lifestyle products. This Editorial Policy explains the standards and principles that guide everything we publish.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial content is created independently of any advertising, affiliate, or sponsorship relationships. Brands and retailers do not pay us to feature their products positively, and no manufacturer, retailer, or advertiser is given editorial approval over our content before publication. Our recommendations reflect our own research and judgment, not commercial arrangements.

Where we do earn money from a page — through affiliate links, for example — this has no bearing on which products we recommend or how we rank them. Full details are available in our Affiliate Disclosure.

How We Choose What to Cover

We prioritize topics based on:

  • What readers are actively searching for and asking about
  • Categories where there’s genuine complexity or confusion in the market
  • Products and topics relevant to our core categories (Kitchen & Appliances, Furniture, Smart Home, and the other sections listed on our About Us page)

How We Research and Write

Every guide and article on HomeySpec is built on a combination of:

  • Manufacturer specifications and official product documentation
  • Published test data, certifications (such as ENERGY STAR), and third-party reviews
  • Pricing and availability research at the time of writing
  • Comparative analysis across competing products in a category

We describe our full process in detail on our How We Review Products page.

Accuracy and Updates

We aim for accuracy in every published piece, but product specs, prices, and availability change often. We periodically review and update older content, and we welcome reader-submitted corrections — see our Corrections Policy for how to report an issue and how we handle it.

Author Attribution

Articles reflect the research and editorial judgment of the HomeySpec team. Where an article is based primarily on manufacturer data and aggregated research rather than first-hand product testing, we aim to make that clear in the context of the article.

Corrections and Accountability

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Significant corrections are noted within the relevant article. We do not retroactively alter published conclusions to favor an advertiser or affiliate partner.
